From 2018, Carrum Downs Secondary College has begun to implement a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policy allowing students to bring their own netbook device to the school and connect to our school network, with the intention of improving accessibility to digital learning resources to improve student engagement and learning.
Pricing and new model laptops now available on our Portal
user code: CDSC
From Term 2 all students now have the option of bringing their own netbook device and connecting it to our school network. The program is currently optional and we will still be providing access to netbooks at school for those students who are not yet able to provide their own netbook. We intend that within the next 2 years the BYOD program will become compulsory for all students.
If you wish for your child to be able to bring their netbook to school so that they can engage with their technology in their learning, then simply return the parent consent form and check that your netbook meets our college requirements. These documents have been sent home to all families, year 8 and 9 will recieve a hard copy on Monday 14th however, they are available for download from our Compass news feed or in hard copy from the front office. Students must make sure they have read and agreed to the terms of using our school network, and can then bring the netbook device to our IT department, who can assist them in getting connected.
