Schooling is compulsory for children and young people aged from 6 – 17 years. Daily school attendance is important for all children and young people to succeed in education and to ensure they don’t fall behind academically, socially and developmentally.
To help reach this goal the College employs a range of strategies, including:
Students are not normally given permission to leave the school during the day. Students must never leave the school property without permission from their parent/guardian and the school. If your child is absent or running late, please enter this on Compass or ring the relevant Support Officer.
If you require your student to leave school early for a pre-planned appointment, your student must bring a note signed by the parent/guardian and this must be shown to the class teacher before signing out at their House. Alternatively you can enter departure details on Compass.
Should something arise on the day requiring your child to leave the College early, please ring the relevant Support Officer. The Support Officer will then make sure your child is at reception waiting for collection.
The education department now requires parents wanting to take students out of school for an extended period of time to request permission in writing for the student to be away from school. This must be sent to the Principal at least 1 term prior to the dates sought.
