Carrum Downs Secondary College

Where Every Student Grows

Bullying Prevention

Carrum Downs Secondary College has a number of programs and strategies in place to build a positive and inclusive school culture. We strive to foster a school culture that prevents bullying behaviour by modelling and encouraging behaviour that demonstrates acceptance, kindness and respect.

We have zero tolerance for antisocial behaviour. We are committed to ensuring all students feel safe and supported at school and work extensively with educating students around the antisocial behaviour, as well as ensuring the victim is heavily supported.

In addition to the Staged Response to Bullying table, other supports and strategies could include:

  • Holding restorative conversations between students
  • Giving advice on how to manage conflicts themselves
  • Suggesting safe spaces in the College at recess or lunchtime
  • Informing classroom teachers of issues and how to support in class
  • Enforcing boundaries between students
  • Teaching students ways to respond to bullying through the toolkit
  • Other individualized and contextual supports

Potential consequences for Bullying:

  • Yard restrictions
  • Lunch/After School Detention
  • Withdrawal
  • Internal Suspension
  • External Suspension
